Scooter Mopeds

A scooter moped is somewhat similar to a motorcycle because it has only two wheels and offers the same type of seating arrangement. Scooter mopeds are very lightweight and they don’t operate at speeds that are near what a motorcycle operates at. One of the major differences is that a scooter moped has a platform for the rider’s feet to rest on in the middle of the scooter rather than pegs for them on the outside of the motorcycle. Another difference is that scooters have panels that cover the mechanical side of things while on a motorcycle most of the parts are visible. Scooter mopeds operate on small tires that are very durable. You won’t likely need to replace them for years.

Scooter mopeds are very popular throughout the world, but they are one of the most available forms of transportation in Europe and Asia do to the low cost of operating them. With the introduction of fuel injected scooter mopeds and the continued increase in fuel prices, more people are starting to take a serious interest in them.

More than half of the scooter mopeds available on the market are manufactured in China and then imported to other countries around the world. They are able to meet the EPA standards of the United States at a lower production cost then the United States can. Mexico is also in the scooter moped industry, sending most of what they produce to California.

There are many different makes and models of scooter mopeds to choose from. This can make purchasing one very difficult. Make sure you base your selection on more than just the color or the design on the moped. You want it to be a reliable source of transportation for you that is economical.

The internet is a great place to explore your scooter moped options. You can identify the features you want on one and then narrow your choices down to those scooters that offer them. You should also compare the prices and warranty information. Next it is a good idea to try out several different models by sitting on them and test driving them. If you find one you really like ask if you can rent it for a day or two so you can see if it is really what you are looking for.
